No one is forcing you to purchase two licenses. You don't have to purchase Windows twice. If you don't have a license then you purchase a full license if you want to upgrade from a previous OS, you purchase an Upgrade license. Why embed the COA in the BIOS/UEFI? - Maybe because the OEM license is tied to that device. You didn't purchase two licenses - so why should you be entitled to two licenses (one for W7 and one for W8)? Why doesn't MS give you a Windows 7 COA and your Windows 8 COA? Why should they? You are licensed for Windows 8 Pro - they give you the rights to install that. If you purchased a new OEM Windows 8 Pro license (not preinstalled) you should have the product key on inside of the box (same with retail upgrade licenses). Why do I have to buy windows twice GREED!!!Ĭhanging the motherboard would technically result in needing a new license - as the OEM license is tied to the mobo. What a crock!!! I did buy windows 8 with downgrade to 7 that was preloaded on these systems right? Why don’t I get a COA for 8 or 7 to call to reactivate downgrade to 7? For that matter why don’t you put COAs on any of the win8 boxes anymore? Systems have to ship with an OS on them and then I have to buy a Vol Lic version to fix reactivation. I’ll have to do a total reload instead of a five minute fix (per Lenovo and M$ new licensing). Why can't MS give me a COA to reactivate a Lenovo that was shipped backwards with win7 pro with win 8 install disk? MB replaced and now I have WGA errors.
